Teaching Assistant – French Immersion

Le Monde International School is seeking a Teaching Assistant (French Immersion) to support student learning in a dynamic, multilingual, and culturally immersive environment. This position works closely with classroom teachers to help deliver high-quality instruction in French while fostering a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom community.
Position Details
- Position Title: Teaching Assistant – French Immersion
- Reports To: Classroom Teacher(s) and Executive Director
- Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Position
- Location: Le Monde International School, Norman, OK
Position Overview
The Teaching Assistant supports instructional activities in a French immersion classroom and assists students academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate is collaborative, student-centered, and enthusiastic about language immersion education. This role is essential in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting the school’s mission of academic excellence, multilingualism, and cultural awareness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher with instructional activities delivered primarily in French
- Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning objectives
- Support classroom management and positive student behavior
- Assist with supervision during transitions, recess, lunch, and arrival/dismissal
- Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
- Support students’ social-emotional development in a culturally responsive manner
- Participate in school-wide activities, events, and required meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by classroom teachers or school administration
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Proficiency in French (native or near-native proficiency strongly preferred)
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to working in a diverse, multicultural school community
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children in an educational setting
- Experience in language immersion or bilingual programs
- Coursework or training in education, child development, or related fields
Compensation and Compliance Notice
We are happy to share that we have received the preliminary prevailing wage determination from the U.S. Department of Labor for this position. Based on this determination, the minimum required wage for this role has been set at $25,517 per year.
Le Monde International School confirms that this position will be offered at or above this wage, in full compliance with applicable federal labor regulations.
