Le Monde at a Glance

Le Monde International School District — Norman, Oklahoma

At Le Monde International School, students do more than study another language—they learn through it. As a free public charter school in Norman, Oklahoma, we offer an immersive, globally focused education that develops bilingual communicators, critical thinkers, and engaged citizens from PreK through eighth grade.

Le Monde was born from a community’s determination to preserve language-immersion education. When the French Immersion program at Reagan Elementary was shut down, a group of parents refused to let that opportunity disappear. They organized, advocated, and worked tirelessly to create a public charter school where students could continue learning through language. Their vision became Le Monde International School, which opened in 2018 and has since grown into a thriving PreK–8 school. Now in our ninth year, we have earned a seven-year charter renewal from the Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board—the strongest possible affirmation of the school our community built. As a public charter school, Le Monde is open to Oklahoma families regardless of where they live.

Our academic model combines rigorous instruction with full language immersion and an international outlook. As an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school and a LabelFrancÉducation school, Le Monde offers students a recognized framework for inquiry, intercultural understanding, and high-quality French-language education. Students build bilingual fluency, think critically, and learn to engage confidently with the world beyond Oklahoma. That global perspective is reinforced by educators whose experiences span Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Thailand, Belgium, Serbia, Cuba, and other communities around the world.
