Immunizations protect your family and the community from serious but preventable diseases. Oklahoma law requires that children attending school or child care receive certain vaccines for entry – these include immunizations for diseases like measles, polio, chickenpox, whooping cough, and more. Following the recommended vaccine schedule helps ensure children are protected at every age. While exemptions are allowed for medical, religious, or personal reasons as permitted by state law, health officials strongly encourage all families to stay up to date on required vaccines to keep everyone safe.
